Subject: Canadian Timber Wolf Location: Woburn Safari Park Date: 09/02/2012
A wolf in snow is something I've wanted to get a photo of, probably my whole life. And today my wish came true! English snow might not be the most impressive snow in the world, but it gets the job done.

In this photo, the visual is very nice, an almost gray-scale quality with flecks of browns and tans highlighting the wolf's ear and the dirt behind the melting snow. Incredibly, the artist has been able to capture a realistic picture around snow. If you have ever taken photos of snow, you will know that this is no simple task, as the snow often reflects light which washes out any and all color, or causes incredible amounts of glare. Also, it seems that they were able to capture an animal behaving as it usually would, undisturbed by the camera but focused on something ahead of it. Therefore while the artist did go near enough to take a picture of it, she did not get too close and disturb the wolf or it's surrounding. A truly amazing piece!
